The idea
When a paragraph is split across columns, orphans sets the minimum number of lines that must stay at the bottom of the first column. Raise it and the browser moves the break earlier, leaving more lines behind. Set orphans so the first column keeps at least 7 lines.
This level needs orphans; height is off-limits so you cannot fake the taller container by setting its height directly.
